EXPERIENCE OF THE MIDDLE EAST COUNTRIES IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE DIGITAL ECONOMY (ON THE EXAMPLE OF THE TOURIST INDUSTRY OF SAUDI ARABIA)

This article is devoted to a comparative analysis of the current state and development
trends of the digital economy in the Middle East, using the example of the
digitalization of the tourism industry in Saudi Arabia. The status of the countries of
the region is shown along with the leading countries of the world in such
international indicators as World Digital Competitiveness Ranking, Global
Knowledge Index, Future Preparedness Index and Future Preparedness Index. A
comparative analysis of the development of tourism in the Middle East with the
indicators of the leading countries of the world is made. It was also substantiated
that the adoption and implementation of the Vision-2030 program, based on digital
technologies, will create ample opportunities for the development of traditional
tourism in Saudi Arabia in the near future.
